THE CHANGES IN BIOCHEMICAL BLOOD STRUCTURE AS A RESULT OF ACUTE DOG INTOXICATION WITH COPPER SULFATE

It is known that the intoxication with heavy metals and pesticides is most often unmedical poisoning. In contrast to other heavy metals, for example: mercury, lead, cadmium and zinc, toxic copper activity and the mechanism of its effect are not known enough and they are not yet explained. Because of that, the aim of this work was ( with acute dog intoxication with copper sulfate ) to contribute to better clearing of biochemical mechanism as a result of copper toxical effect and to make analysis of its tissue distribution. Researching was done on adult dogs, both sexes, different races and body mass of 14- 20 kg, who were given a 10% water solution of copper sulfate in the dosage of 33mg/b.m. divided into 5 equal doses. The analysis of biochemical blood structure took the following things: total proteins, albumins, globulins, total lipids, chole2+ sterol, glucoze, transaminase (AST,ALT), catalase, peroxidase, vitamin C, proteine SH, the contretation of Cu in the serum 2+ and the content of Cu in the tissues. The results are presented in the charts and graphic presentation. All these changes can be the important directions in an biological monitoring as a biochemical indication of copper pollution in the surroundings.

THE EFFECTS OF ESOMEPRAZOLE ON ALCOHOL INDUCED STRESS ULCER LESIONS IN RATS

Stress ulcer presents acute lesion of gastric mucosa, which resulted from influence of different stressors: trauma,
shock, burns, drugs administration, various irritants etc. Since pathogenesis of stress ulcer is not completely clarified, the
most adequate therapy for the patients which suffer from it, is not defined yet. Esomeprazole is a S-isomer of omeprazole
and is the first inhibitor of proton pump synthesized as an isomer. Our aim was to test effects of esomeprazole, given during
pretreatment and posttreatment period, on progress of alcohol induced stress ulcer lesions. We had experiments on sexually
mature Wistar rats weight 200-250 g. Alcohol stress was induced by intragastric administration of 1 mL 96% alcohol.
Alcohol stress produced massive submucosal lesions in glandular part of stomach. Macroscopic lesions were verified
histologicaly. Intragastric pretreatment administration of esomeprazole (20 mg/kg BW) significantly (p<0,001) reduced gastric lesions. Intragastric post-treatment administration of esomeprazole (20 mg/kg BW) did not reduce gastric lesions. Esomeprazole (20 mg/kg BW) administrated in pretreatment period of alcohol induced stress significantly decreased dimensions of stress ulcer lesions in rats, while the same dose administrated in posttreatment period did not cause that effect.

ESSENTIAL CHARACTERISTICS OF REPEATED MYOCARDIAL INFARCTION

Bacterial meningitis is an important medical problem, as because of the use of powerfull antibiotics and other
drugs, and therapeutic measures, the number of patients, as well as the mortality haven't been changed for years. Because of that the study of pathogenesis of bacterial meningitis has been one the most dynamic researsh fields in recent years. Meningitis caused by salmonella is not usual clinical manifestation of salmonella infections, but because of fulminant evolution and specific structure of cause. Path and effect of diseases, it deserves special attention. Our researches encompases 29 children who suffer from salmonella meningitis. Out of the whole number of cured children, the moust frequent was at newborn (58,6%), while the smallest number was in the group of older infant (6.9%). Concernig the sex structure of diseased, the biger number was at male (62.0%). The most important finding in liquor cerebrospinalis at patients is polymorphonuclear leucocytosis (average value of cell elements is 3744, with 82% polymorphonuclears). At the same time existed leucocytosis in peripheral blood with sigificant deviation into left. At all our patients hypoglycorachya expressed (1.45mmol/L). The value of proteinorachya was 1.71 g/L. The result of the disease was successful in 49.3%, died 24,1%, and cured with consequences 27,6%.

FREQUENCY OF CERVICAL PLANOCELLULAR CARCINOMA

Today it is noticeable that the incidence and mortality from cervical carcionoma increases, especially the growth of
frequency of those changes at younger women. The total number of diagnosis of invasive carcinoma at the processed biopsy and operative matrials was 186. The majority of results were the histological grade G1 N1 54,83% in the group of 41-50 years old patients, and the less significant was number of histological grade G2 N2 at the age 51-60 and G3 N3 at patients over 60 years old. In 72 cases the radical surgical treatment was done after previously made HP diagnosis of planocellular carcinoma on the biopsy material, and it was done in the cases that were operable in stage Ib (FIGO). The most of operated women were with histological grade G1 N1, so we followed in what degree the size of tumor, beside the histological grade G1 N1, so we followed in what degree the size of tumor, beside the histological grade, have an effect on the possibility of presence of the metastasis in regional lymphatic nodes. We came to the conclusion that with the growth of macroscopically size of tumor, the frequency of appearance of lymphatic nodes increases. Those parameters could not the small number of operated cases. When the disease is discovered in these histological grades. It is not operable, and then we perform radiotherapy as a method of treatment.

BARIUM ENEMA AND CHRONIC APPENDICITIS

Chronic appendicitis presents inflammation of appendix with atypical clinical findings, without significant signs
and symptoms. Because of that diagnosing chronic appendicitis presumes a great problem. Indications for operative treatment based on clinical impression are followed with a great number of unnecessary appendectomies. Barium enema can show morphlogic changes of appendix during its chronic inflammation. Our aim was to show values of barium enema in diagnosing chronic appendicitis. Study went prospectively, in period 1999-2001 on Clinic for abdominal and endocrine
surgery, Institute for surgery Novi Sad. It includes 100 patients with symptoms, 50 of them were operated after barium
enema, and other 50 were operated after clinical impression of surgeon. Each appendix was patohistologicaly examined.
Incidental appendectoies were exluded. Of total 1425 appendectomies in three years period, 100 were operatde because of chronic appendicitis. Fifty of them were operated after barium enema, and other 50 were operated after clinical impression of surgeon. Range of years was 15 59 in examined group with average 35,6 years. In control group range was 15 57, with average 32,9 years. Lasting of pain episode more than 12 hours had 94% of patients in examined group, and 72% of patients in control group had painn less than 24 hourrs. During of pain episodes at 92% of patients from examined group was 3 weeks to 12 months, and 86% of patients from control group had pain standing 3-36 weeks. The most common sign on barium enema was finding of coprolites in lumen (52%), followed with unfilled appendix (18%, angulations (10%), distal amputation (8%), segmentation of contrast (8%), and fixated appendix (4%). Intraoperative macroscopic findings were as followed: 40/50 coprolites in lumen, 7/50 fibrous bounds, and 3/50 fibroses of appendix. Patohistologicaly, chronic appendicitis was confirmed at 90% of patients in examined group, and 58% in control group. After surgery, 94% of patients from examined group don't feel the preoperative pain. Barium enema significantly increases of chronic appendicitis. It is non-invasive, and reliable method for showing morphologic changes of chronic appendix. Use of barium enema dereases number of unnecessary appendectomies. Barium enema is suggested for evaluation of patients with chronic pain in right lower quadrant of abdomen, and thereby for diagnosing of chronic appendicitis.

COMPLICATIONS OF BRONCHIECTASIS

On autopsy material of fifty corpses, age 0-75 (Institute for Pathology of Medicine Faculty in Belgrade and KBC
Dragiša Mišović - Dedinje, Beograd) we have met with all kind of comlications of bronchyectazia and bronchyloectazia
which were mentioned in literature. All statement complications, which caused death, we classified into lung and out lung
ones. Among lung complications, we stated that pneumonia among children in a big number of cases of congenital
bronchyectazia and cystic fibrosis of lungs. The apses of lungs were represented in four cases of secular and spindle shaped bronchyectazia and in one case of distal secular bronchyectazia it was represented in empiem pleure. In two cases lung gangrene was noted. Among out lung complications we can emphasize two cases of sepses of brain Apses. Leptomeningitis was present at one case. Among long-term spread bronchyectazia and bronhyloectasis with chronically manure inflammation and lung abscesses (bronchiectasiae abscendons), we stated the deposit of amiloids in glomerulus's and blood vessel of kidney intersticium as well as in liver and spleen. Chronical lung heart (cor pulmonale chronicum) was the most often complication of bronchyectazia and bronchyloectasia in the middle and older age period of our cases and it had represented the major cause of death.

IMPORTANCE OF ANAMNESIS AT THE FOREIGN BODIES OF THE LOWER RESPIRATORY WAYS

Foreign bodies of the lower respiratory ways represent a very important chapter in ENT and medicine in general,
becouse they can lead to child fatal results in very short time due the obstruction and suffocation. They considered as some of the most urgent states in medicine, so that the childs life depends on correctly and quickly made diagnostic and skilfully do
ne intervention. The authors have analysed the importance of anamnesis at the patients which have the foreign body in the
lower respiratory ways, hospitalized at the ENT Clinic and Pediatric Clinic of the CHC Priština, during the period of 1994 -
1999. Results of ork are showed that 132 childrens have been hospitalized during this period, and 119 of them were with
positively anamnesis for foreign body, while 13 were with negatively anamnesis, but with positive clinical and/or radiolo
gical findings. From 119 patients with positively anamnesis, 82.38% had positive TBSC finding, while patients with nega
tively anamnesis (13) had positive TBSC finding in 23.08% cases. The largest number of the children has been male pole
(64.36%), of the age of 3 and younger (73.27%), the most frequent foreign body was raw grain of bean (31.69%), and peanut (16.83%), and the most frequent localisation has been the right bronchi (57.43%). The most foreign bodies have been extracted by the upper tracheobronchoscopy (99.01%), while in only 0.99% of the cases tracheostomy and lower tracheobron choscopy applied. Positive anamnesis for foreign body of the lower respiratory ways was sufficient reason to indicate a tracheobronchoscopy, but if patients had positively clinical and/or radiological findings, negatively anamnesis must be interpreting very carefully

UREAAPPLIANCE IN DERMATOLOGY AND COSMETOLOGY-OUR EXPIRIANCE

Urea is naturally present in healthy skin, but when the skin is dry, and in some skin condicions, such as eczema, psoriasis and dermatitis, the level of urea in the skin is reduced, because skin is dry and rough and irritation. Urea deserves a bigger role in our dermatotherapy and medical cosmetology-for curring skin disorders and for better care of healthy skin. Urea
helps replenish this essential skin component and help support the skin`s natural moisture levels.

TRICHOPHYTID REACTION TO ANTIGEN AGENT IN CHILDRENS AGE

The main goal of this research was to present the mikid generalised reaction in children who suffered from trichophytiae profundae capillitii. After the infection and the inflammation brought on by the direct contact with the sick calves, the intensive mikid reactions occured, that is, the aseptic lesions of the skin. From 149 sick children, hospitalised at the DVC in Priština, 63(42,28%) were with the diagnosis of Kerion celsi. In 7(11,11%) cases trichophytid reactions occured to the animal type of the trichophyton mentagrophytes. The inflammed regions of the kerion produced the secondary bacterial infection with the regionale lymphadenopathy. Two weeks later antibodies and skin rash were produced in response to the infection agents. Early diagnostice and the adequate therapy decreases frequency of the mikid reaction in childrens age

METABOLIC SYNDROM, RISK FACTOR FOR CARDIOVASCULAR DISEASE

Sindrom X or Metabolic Syndrome are both terms used to describe a collection of herth risks contitions that increase your chance os developing heart disease, stroke and diabetes. The condition is aslo known by other names including insulin Resistence syndrome, and Dysmetabolic syndrome. The number of people with Metabolic Syndrome increases with
age, affecting more than 40 percent of people in their 60 s and 70 s. Components of Metabolic Syndrome are: Abdominal obesity, atherogenic dyslipidemia, raised blood pressure, insulin resistance, proinflamate state and prothrombotic state. The
National Cholesterol Education Program 's Adult Treatment Panel III report (ATPIII) identified 6 components of the metabolic syndrome that relevate to CVD. Insulin resistance is present in the majority of people with the matabolic syndrome.
It strongly associates is present with other metabolic risk factors and correlates unuvariately with CVD risk. Patiens with
longstanding insulin resistance frequently manifest glucose intolerance. When glucose intolerance evolves into diabetslevel hyperglicemia, independent risk factor for CVD. When 3 of 5 of the listed caracteristics are present, a diagnosis of metabolic syndrome can be made. The exact cause of Metabolic syndrome is not known. Most reserchers believe it is caused by
a combination of your genetic makeup and lifestyle choices-including the types of food you eat and level of physical activity.

INFLUENCE OF EMOTIONAL DISORDERS ON THE RECOVERY OF PATIENTS AFTER THE STROKE

The patients after the stroke besides impaired motor functions, often have cognitive and emotional disorders which
can endanger the successful carrying out of the rehabilitation treatment. The objective of this study was to estimate the
functional capability and to determine the cognitive and emotional disorders of the patients after the stroke. The research has
ecompassed 40 patients after the stroke of specified age and gender structure, treated in the Clinic for Rehabilitation, of the
Clinical Center in Novi Sad. The data have benn gathered from the anamnesis, clinical and neurological check, test of the
activity in everyday life, the findings of the psychologist on the emotinal status, as well as from the available medical
documentation about the patient. The average values of the Barthel's index are increased for 14.86% after the rehabilitation
treatment. The results show a strong presence of the emotional disorders with 57.5% of the patients. The increased values of Barthel's index and Mini Mental test at the end of the treatment show the undoubtfull importance of the rehabilitation
treatment in the recovery of the patients. The emotional disorders cause the worse recovery of the patients.

IDENTIFICATION OF THE VICTIMS KILLED IN A CIVILIAN BUS CROSSING A BRIDGE IN LUŽANE

Identification of the deceased is routine and, for experts, quite a simple forensic procedure. However, in the case of
mass accidents such as explosions, traffic accidents, natural disasters, and during the war everything is much more different.
There are a lot of differences between forensic medicine in the peace and the forensic medicine during the war. The cause of
this claim comes from special conditions for performing the forensic procedures during the war, with much more activities,
a lot of differences and special characteristics of war injuries. We have in mind mass war injuries and great number of victims, which can grow till catastrophic proportions. That includes killing a great number of people in different places, in
different military units and civilian settlements. The identification of these victims is, certainly, the most important and permanent task of forensic medicine which consider, first of all, collecting, identification and transportation of the victims. The
complexity of these tasks is severe when mass deaths occur, but also when killings happened in the different locations in the
same time, also, during the discovering of the victims which become putrefied and decay, where the biggest problem is to
identify the victim and determine the cause of death.

COMPLEMENT - ACTIVATION, REGULATION OF ACTIVATION AND BIOLOGICAL ACTIVITY

The complement system (complement) involves over 30 circulating and membrane-fixed proteins with an effector
role in the innate and humoral immunity. These proteins help the function of antibodies to protect the organism from foreign
molecules (antigens) which the term complement comes from. Soluble proteins of the complement system made mainly in
the liver and circulate in blood in an inactive form. The activation of complement may be initiated in three ways (classical,
alternative and lecitin pathway), and it is realized by sequential proteolysis of complement proteins (proenzymes) which
become emzymes with the proteolitic activity after cleavage. Products of the activatin of complement bind to the surface of
microbes or to the antibodies bound to antigens. An activated complement shows a number of biological effects, such as
lysis of an attached cell, opsonization, neutralization of viruses, inflammation, clearance of immune complexes etc. In contrast of microorganisms, human cells have a number of regulatory proteins which prevent the complement activation and in that way, they regulate its activity

CMV INFECTION - STILL ONE OF THE MOST SERIOUS PROBLEMS IN PERINATOLOGY

Perinatal infection occurs as a consequence of the intrauterine (congenital) infection, intrapartal infection, or the
newborn infection in the course of its nursing. Congenital cytomegalovirus infection is a most frequent intrauterine infection. The prevalence of congenital CMV infection given by different authors varies significantly, but the majority of them
mention that it is in the range from 0.5 to 2.5 % of the number of the live-born. Significance of this disorder is underlined by
the fact that about 20% of intrauterine infected newborns have later serious problems in their development. The signs of fetal
impairments with congenital CMV infection can be noticed with about 10 % of the infected newborns at the very birth. The
mortality rate among these newborns is high even about 30 % of them exhibit heavy signs of the disease and die very soon
after the birth. Even with 70 % of the newborns with the symptoms of congenital CMV infection it is possible to notice at the
birth the presence of the symptomatology related to CNS, and this is of predicative significance for the later unfavorable
development of the infant. It should be pointed out that, in contrast to intrauterine infection, which provenly yields to fetal
impairments, there are no reliable data that would point to undesired outcomes of intra- or postpartal infections. The work
gives a survey of contemporary knowledge about cytomegalovirus infection in perinatology, as well as about the possibilities of its diagnosis and treatment.

PRINCIPLES OF NUCLEAR MAGNETIC RESONANCE

Nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) or magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) today is the most powerful review method of a human body. Method is based on effect strong magnetic field and on demonstration of natural physical characteristics of nucleus. Hydrogen atom is a part of almost every compound in our body (water, lipids, proteins and nucleid acids).
When we exposed body to strong magnetic field hydrogen nucleus orients in direction of field, which cause resonance and
6 8 emission of radio signals. Resonance frequency for MRI is in range from 10 Hz to 5x10 Hz, which is equal to energies from -28 -25 6x10 J to 3x10 J.

TWO SYNDROMES IN THE SAME FAMILY TREE: DOWN AND PRADER-WILLI-LABHART SYNDROMES

The genes mutate either spontaneously or under the influence of mutagenic agents (irradiation, viruses, toxins).
The occurrence of genetic syndromes in the scope of one family is pointing more to the inherited than to de novo mutation.
Aim of this study was to present two syndromes in the same family tree, occurring subsequently one by one, which carry severe mental retardation and have a poor prognosis and frequently tragic outcome. A case report was given of a patient in
whom both pregnancies were completed by birth of the newborns presenting with severe syndromes: the first one with
Down's syndrome and the second one with Prader-Willi-Labhart syndrome. The results of investigation point to the necessity of genetic investigations before pregnancy and during pregnancy as early as possible, in order to avoid giving birth to
the children with syndromes which bear severe mental retardation and having poor prognosis.

TREATMENT CONDYLOMATA GIGANTEA

Condylomata gigantea is an expansive, destructive lesion that affects most frequently anal and perianal region, and
rarely vulvar and vaginal region. We will describe a clinical case of a 28 years old female patient with a diagnosis of Condylomata gigantea in anal and perianal region with propagation on vulva, vagina and clitoris. After we detected a wide base of condylomas in anal and perianal region, we performed a deep, multiple biopsy for discover of eventual malignancy.
Histologically, malignancy was not confirmed, but it was discovered a presence of HPV types 6 and 11. The patient was initially treated with a wide surgical excision, and then the rest of condylomas were removed using CO laser which had an 2
haemostatic function in the same time. Three months later, there was no recurrence.

"HEVY DISEASE" IN METOHIA, KOSH

Acute louse born typhus is a nightmare to which our scientific medicine have provided significant importance.
Doctors in former Yugoslavia deem that the louse born typhus was rooted in Bosnia and Herzegovina from long time ago,
while in Serbia were individual cases without areas with pediculosis before the First World War, and there were no cases of
body pediculosis in villages. The author conducts medical, but also historical and linguistical research in order of collecting
data on louse borne typhus cases through information on causes of death written in death certificates. The research was done in more phases. The citizens were tested through questionnaires at the area of lower prevalence of louse borne typhus (only sero-positive cases); then at the area of higher prevalence (population through random sample). Contact with R. Prowazeki was established through sensitive serological method. In the final step, the popular name for typhus syndrome was checked - that is, if that name has been written into the death certificate. The objective of the research is to check if there were cases of louse borne typhus in the area of Metohia, and that was done through checking the death certificates. The author proves the endemics of the disease through explicit and implicit use of the name for the louse borne typhus during 1914 to 1935. This empirical check is the basis for the future researches of earlier endemic of louse borne typhus, this time through checking older documents from the used death certificates, which is kept in the archive of Serbia, town of Kotor, and other places.
