THE MATHEMATICAL MODELS OF ALBUMIN AS DIAGNOSTIC PARAMETERS OF BLOOD-BRAIN BARRIER STATUS

The increased protein concentration in cerebrospinal fluid is among most prominent biochemical parameter of intensified passage of macromolecules through blood-brain barrier. It is often found in cases of meningeal inflammation, neurodegeneration, neoplastic and traumatic processes developed on brain or spinal cord structures. Protein concentration in cerebrospinal fluid is often determined, but determination of albumin concentrations as well as mathematical models utilizing albumin are more reflective to the pathologic processes on the brain and spinal cord. Our study was limited to the determination of referent values for our laboratory for cerebrospinal fluid albumin concentrations, albumin quotient, as well as albumin transudat and exudat in the function of the age of probands. The results of the study show great agreement with previously published data.

LYMPHOPOETIC FUNCTION OF THE THYMUS

The process of multipotential lymphatic stem cell maturation and differentiation into immunocompetent T cells is accomplished by the expression and deletion of specific surface CD antigens. The CFU-Lstem cells enter the medulla of the thymus via a post capillary venule and then migrate to the periphery of the thymic lobule. The presence of CD2 and CD7 molecules on the cell surface indicates an early stage of differentiation. This is followed by expression of the CD1 molecule, indicating the midstage of Tcell differentiation. As maturation progresses, the cells express TCRs, CD3, CD4, and CD8 molecules. It seems that intensity of interreacion between TCR/co receptor molecule complex and self peptide/MHC complex determine the outcome of the thymocite selection process. If the lymphocyte recognizes self MHC and self or foreign antigen, it will survive the selection (positive selection); if not, death of the cell will occur. Cells that pass the positive selection test leave the cortex and enter the medulla. Here they undergo another selection process in which cells directed to selfantigen displayed by self MHC are eliminated (negative selection). Cells that survive that selection then become either cytotoxic CD8+ Tlymphocytes or helper CD4+ Tlymphocytes.

RUPTURE OF RECTOSYGMOID COLON AND TRANSRECTOANALIS PROLAPS OF SMALL INTESTINE - case report

Women in the age of 70 years admitted to the hospital in severe condition, 4 months after transvaginal hysterectomy. Physical examinaton revealed small bowel loops passing through the anus into the auter spaces. Previous surgery was as follows: Hysterctomia totalis vaginalis, conservatio adnexorum bill, colpoperineoplastica cum myorraphiam mm. levatores any, vaginopexia sacrospinalis sec. Nichols pp. prolapsus utery totalis am. n 4. On that occasion the anterior wall of rectosygmoid colon was damageden size 70x50 mm by that time. The lesions was neither noted nor repaired during. Postoperativne course was uneventful. After 4 mounths, during phisical strain patient felt sudden pain in abdomen, need for passing the bowels, noting the passage of the intestines through the annal appertura immediate reoperation was undertaken. Through medial infraumbilical approad small intestine was mannualy repositioned the lesion of the large intestine was managed by primary suttures Vicryl 000. Drainage of peritoneum performed. Postoperative course un univentful. Intestinal function restored. Wound healed correctly, per primam.

ELECTROCARDIOGRAPHIC CHANGES IN PATIENTS WITH SYSTEMIC DISEASE OF CONNECTIVE TISSUE

Changes in the heart and blood vessels are one of the major complications that substantially contribute to morbidity and mortality of patients with systemic diseases of connective tissue. All anatomical structures of the heart can be affected by pathological process and noted the multiple pathogenic mechanism leading to changes in pericard (thickening of leaves, calcification, pericardial outburst), atrial and ventricular arrhythmia, disorders of implementation, changes in heart failure in terms of whiskered or stenosis, myocardial ischemia and heart failure. The aim was also to test the registration of the most common heart rhythm disorder and implementation as well as changes in the ST segment and T wave of electrocardiogram of patients with systemic diseases of connective tissue. The study involved 70 patients in two groups. The first group was 50 patients with systemic disease of connective tissue, and the second control group of 20 patients with lumbal syndrome. Electrocardiographic changes were observed in 38(54,3%) respondents. Observed by groups of patients with connective tissue diseases were registered in 35 (70%) and in the control group in 3 (15%) patients with a statistically significant difference (p<0,01). Statistically significant difference was noted in the appearance of ventricular premature complex, changes in ST segment and T wave.

CYTOLOGIC EXAMINATION IN DIAGNOSIS OF ORAL HERPES SIMPLEX VIRUS-1 INFECOIONS

The nature of herpes simplex virus as infective agens, which can grow in number, only in live cells, and fact that many herpes virus infections of oral tissue have atypic and asymptomatic course, makes their diagnosis more difficult and complicate from infections caused by other microorganisms. The aim of this investigation were to established cytological findings oral lesions of primary and recurrent herpes infections.

RIGHT VENTRICULAR INFARCTION - A CASE REPORT

A characteristic hemodynamic pattern has observed in patients with right ventricular infarction, with frequently accompanies inferior left ventricular infarction or rarely occurs in isolated form. The electrocardiogram may provide the first clue that right ventricular involvement is present in the patient with inferior wall myocardial infarction. Most patients with right ventricular infarction have ST- segment elevation in lead V4R (right precordial lead in V4 position). ST segment elevation of 0,1mV or more in anyone or in combination of leads V4R, V5R, and V6R in patients with the clinical picture of acute myocardial infarction (MI) is highly sensitive and specific for the diagnosis of right ventricular MI.

REGISTRATION OF MOTOR UNITS ACTION POTENTIALS OF M.BICEPS BRACHII IN FATIGUE

The aim of this study was registration of change in the amplitude of motor unit action potentials of m. bicepsa brachii of the dominant arm in fatigue. Investigation as coducted on 30 participants (15 male and 15 female). In the first phase of the research, 1-RM (one repetition maximum) of the dominant arm was measured. In the second phase, registration of changes in the amplitude of motor units action potentials was conducted during static contraction. Registration was performed twice, with time interval of 15 minutes. The second measurement was significantly shorter than the first. Analysis of EMNG-registration showed linear increase in MUAPamplitude in time. Significantly higher values of MUAPamplitude in the second measurements were registrated in both groups (p<0.05). Analysis of MUAPamlitude velocity change showed significantly higher values in the second measurement in males. There is no significant change in all registered values between males and females (p> 0.05).

COMPARATIVE ANALISYS OF ANALISYS OF HEALTH SURVEYS

One of aims of health surveys is comparison helth status of residents on different territories. Comparative analysis оf health surveys in five countries: (England, USA, Ireland, Canada and Hungary) and establish opportunities for comparison health status of residents in different country. Will be doing comparative analysis of results from health surveys in five quoted country. First of all, will be doing comparison of methods and derived results. Specially, will be notice on determinants of health which are applied in surveys. Methodology which was used is, mainly, similar in all country. Its health state like a best describes residents of USA. There are most smokers among Hungarians (30,5%) and least of all among Americans (17%). There are most obeses among residents of England (23,1%) and least of all among Canadians (15%). Most Americans and Hungarians (85%) visited general practitioners in recent year. Questions about limited mobility, depression, mental health, cardiovascular diseases, diabetes, blood pressure, fisical activity, mammography, prescribe medicine, estimation quality of health care service and satisfaction with health care service there isn't in most of surveys. We can conclude that the methodology, which was used in surveys, is mainly similar. There are, obviously, variances in wording questions, respecting in determinants of health wich are exploratives in questionnaires. In order to escape these variances, one of the solution would have been using standardized questionnaires, which will be using in future surveys in all country.

MIGRAINE COMBINED WITH ACM ANEURISM IN 15 YEARS OLD PATIENT CASE PRESENTATION

Migraine headaches are very frequent and its prevalence rates between 15-18% in women and 5-6% in men (1). Migraine attacks vary very mach in their intensity and frequency from patient to patient, and during the time in same patient. Even 75% of the patients describe attacks as heavy or extremely heavy. Although somatic and neurology exams between attacks reveal regular findings, migraine can have great impact on the patients quality of life (social limitations, complications caused by drugs, psychiatric and somatic morbidity (2) In spite usual believes headaches are very often in children. Before puberty boys safer more frequently than girls. Just the same, in early childhood as well as in adolescence migraine pain could mimic and compromise bringing up the right diagnosis of the other possible somatic causes, most likely one sided headaches. Our case presentation points out one of the possibilities. L.M 15-years old patient hospitalized on the pediatric department of the ,,Kralj Milutin Clinic,, in Laplje Selo on October 2007, under the diagnosis of blanking out and left sided headache. After neurology exam and neurology diagnostic procedures done MR cerebra and MR-angiography, diagnose of aneurism of right the ACM (arteria cerebra media) has been established, and operatively treated. After the intervention, patient stays without intensive headaches , only weak pain on the left side of the head, now and on, without blanks.

ANTIOXIDATIVE POTENCY OF PLANT MELLITIS MELISOPHYLLUM

One of the paradoxes of life on the Earth is that, on one side, oxygen is necessary for living of aerobic organisms. On the other side, increased contrencations of oxygen and especially its reactive metabolites (reactive oxygen species) may lead to the development of number diseases such as Alzheimer, Parkinson, ischemia-reperfusion injury, coronary atherosclerosis, diabetes mellitus, hypertension, and cancer genesis, as well as in the aging process (1, 2,3). Amajor source of free radicals in biological systems is molecular oxygen (O2). By interacting with fundamental cell structures and biomolecules, reactive oxygen species (ROS) can lead to the development of many pathophysiological disorders (4,5). Active principles from plant family Lamiaceae (flavonoids and phenolic compounds, polyphenols), like plant Mellitis melisophillum, may act as new potential antioxidants.
