THE INTERACTIONS OF BIOELEMENTS WITH INCREASED INTAKE OF COPPER

Copper is an essential element, a constituent of all living cells and an integral component of many enzymes. The increase in pollution of the environment, and various metabolic diseases, imbalances biological processes and homeostatic regulated content of bioelements in the body. For the purpose of determining changes in the contents of bioelements with increased intake of copper, the paper followed by interaction before and after ingestion of copper. The results showed that copper in excess causes disruption of physiological interactions of bioelements in tissues and significantly increases the content of iron and magnesium. The nature and relationships of these interactions are important, because in terms of exposure to metals, there are changes in their mutual relations, with some of these antagonistic relationships may be utilized for further study in order to protect them from toxicity.

RESULTS OF THE POLL RESEARCH AMONG PHARMACISTS EMPLOYED IN STATE AND PRIVATE PHARMACIES OF SOUTH BACKA DISTRICT

An anonimous poll was conducted, which included pharmacists employed in state and private pharmacies from Novi Sad, Backa Palanka, Bac, Temerin and Odžaci (South Backa district). The group polled was a representative sample compared to the overall pharmacists number. The poll was conducted due to the fact that routine health statistics does not provide enough representative data on drug accessibility to patients and to try to answer how administrative limits interfere with the choice of medicaments. Obtained results suggest that the biggest problem is the lack of A list medicaments, so the patients are forced to buy medicaments in private pharmacies or even in the neighboring countries. The majority of the pharmacists polled are of the opinion that the participation in state pharmacies is low. There are no significant differences in the opinion of the pharmacists from both state and private pharmacies concerning the medicament consumption, both groups are of the opinion that we are facing excessive medicament consumption, above the real need.

RESULTS OF THE POLL RESEARCH AMONG PRIMARY HEALTH CARE DOCTORS OF SOUTH BACKA DISTRICT

An anonymous poll was conducted, targeting medics in health institutions in the area of Novi Sad, Bačka Palanka, Bač, Temerin and Odžak (south Bačka region). Doctors involved in this survey are representative sample of the total population. Aim of the survey was to analyse drugs prescription and use in modern medicine, as well as to determine the extent of compliance of general medicine doctors with modern pharmacotherapy requirements. Results show that more than a half of doctors feel that the positive list corresponds to real needs, and that the price of medicaments and participation is low. Also, they believe that the drug consumption exceeds real needs. The high percent of medics does not have sufficient knowledge of the modern pharmacotherapy attitude towards the certain drugs use, which demonstrates the lack of continuing education in the field.

DRUG TRANSITION THROUGH THE BLOOD-BRAIN BARRIER AFTER THE RETROGRADE INTRAARTERIAL APPLICATIO

Transition of xenobiotics from blood into brain tissue is limited by the blood-brain barrier (BBB), a very selective functional barrier that excludes penetration of various substances, while allowing essential nutrients to enter into CNS. Transport of drugs through the intact BBB depends of their physico-chemical characteristics, the way of drug application and of anatomical and functional integrity of the barrier. The aim of this work was to examine penetration of quinine and lysinacetylsalicilate in vivo through the rat BBB, after the intraarterial injection via the a. axillaris in the course to CNS. The
experiment was done on anaesthetized Wistar rats, body weight 200-300 g. Test animals received injection of quinine (25 mg/kg) or LAS (90 mg/kg). Blood from the left jugular vein and brain samples (brain stem, cerebellum, right and left cerebral hemispheres) were taken in four minutes period. Quinine concentrations in rat brain were higher than in blood (ratio between blood/brain concentration was <1) while LAS concentrations in blood were permanently higher, according to their liposolubility. Maximal concentration in the brain tissue of both drugs are time dependent which indicated the useness of an active transport

EVALUATION OF USAGE MEDICAMENTS FOR TREATMENT OF GASTROINTESTINAL TRACT AND METABOLISM AND TREATMENT OF MUSCULAR AND SCELETAL SYSTEM DISEASES ON THE BASIS OF DEFINED DAILY DOSE

Defined daily dose (DDD) is arbitrary chosen technical unit for measuring medicament usage and it is not a recommended therapeutic dose. It is in fact a statistical parameter for monitoring medicaments usage, and it is related to the
dose which is usually prescribed for the indication that the medicament was registered for. The aim of this work is to perform a detailed analysis of the extent and structure of the region of South Backa. According to the obteined data, medicaments
used in treatment of gastroinestinal tract contributed with 15.52 DDD/1000 inhabitants per day. Most commonly used are antacids and anti-ulcer drugs (8.14 DDD/1000 inhabitants per day). Medicaments used in treatment of muscular and skeletal
system contributed with 14.30 DDD/1000 inhabitants per day. Antiinflammatory and antirheumatic drugs sre used in amounts of 14.18 DDD/1000 inhabitants per day. In our country there is no complex survey of drug usage because there is no way of monitor ing which could apprehend all possible information sources. Defined daily dose is not introduced into practical qualitative and quantitative monitoring. It is necessary to make systematic network of information sources to provide for insight into medicament usage

EVALUATION OF USAGE ANTIINFECTIVE MEDICAMENTS FOR SYSTEMATIC APLICATION ON THE BASIS OF DEFINED DAILY DOSE

Defined daily dose (DDD) is arbitrary chosen technical unit for measuring medicament usage and it is not a recommended therapeutic dose. It is in fact a statistical parameter for monitoring medicaments usage, and it is related to the dose which is usually prescribed for the indication that the medicament was registered for. The aim of this work is to perform a detailed analysis of the extent and structure of the region of South Backa. Antiinfective medicaments in systematic use, according to the obtained data, participate with only 7.96 DDD/1000 inhabitants. The most applied pharmacotherapeutic subgroup with 2.99 DDD/1000 inhabitants is comprised of cephalexine and cephachlor.
